    Dealer Notes

Barn Find....This Ferrari 348 TS was a barn find in New Jersey. It is a 1 Owner car that is in prestine condition for having 26,803 miles on the vehicle. We acquired the original window sticker, three set of keys, the original tool kit and the original books. The vehicle had an original MSRP of $130,810.

It took a tremendous effort to get the original owner to part with the vehicle. We remained steadfast because we knew we needed to rescue her from sure death.....it was not easy however we prevailed.

She had not been driven or started since 2012. We just knew, based on her overall condition, it was worth the risk of buying her and not hearing her run. So we loaded her on a flatbed and brought her back to Massachusetts.

We began our planning to bring her back to glory. This consisted of dropping the entire rear subframe of the vehicle and placing the entire drivetrain on another truck bed...pictures available. My Senior Master Technicians decided to set the subframe on pallets then rest her on the back of a Subaru Sambar flatbed pickup.

Once we got the engine out and available to work on we determined all of the parts necessary for a major service. We have all of the parts purchases listed on repair orders. We went through every imaginable component. Belts, Hoses, Plugs, Seals, Gaskets, Fuel Tank, Injectors, Fuel Rails...you name it we did it. We removed the intake and valve covers...we powder coated the upper intake and valve covers in Ferrari red and the lower intake in a gray wrinkle paint, see the engine photos.

Once we called Ferrari of New England and gave them the VIN to assess the necessary parts for the Transmission rebuild, clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing and flywheel. They had them available and we ordered them, oh...before we took the transmission apart. We started disassembling the transmission only to find out the vehicle had a dual clutch plate transmission not a single clutch plate. We called back the Ferrari store and they stated that was impossible unless the previous owner put it in. We assured them that the owner never did any work to the vehicle.

So what next....we decided we needed to speak with Ferrari direct in Maranello, Italy. Any idea how difficult that is...well it is and you need a translator. Not to bore the read, we got through and waiting for the conversation to be complete to see what was actually said...it has been determined when the vehicle was built that they had run out of the transmissions and decided to put the dual clutch plate transmission in the car...oh, it's rare! Yep, straight from the plant...very few were built with this configuration. This 348 is one of them. So we struggled for months to get everything we actually needed to complete the transmission service.

We got everything completed with the engine service and moved to complete the transmission only to find out it needed special tools we did not have...Who do we call...the best Ferrari guys in the NorthEast is who you call. Enter, Boston SportsCar Company in Weston MA. Darin, Rick and Mike are the best in the business. We reached out and explained the situation with the transmission...they reply, oh that's rare. Yep we have the tool, we will be right over. They show up and cannot believe the beauty we stumbled upon. Darin and his Father go back decades with Ferrari. Folks ship their Ferrari's and Lambo's from all over the world to Boston SportsCar Company. If you want additional information about the 348 they helped us with the final portion of the project. they did the final transmission work and final inspection, once we completed the project. Invoices available...

Anyway...there you have it. This 1991 Ferrari 348 TS is one of those cars you want in your collection. It is in incredible shape and runs strong. She has had everything imaginable done to make her complete a daily driver or a Sunday brunch head turner. Everyone comes to the dealership and walk
