While the base price for the Sentra is $400 less, you're getting a front wheel drive car instead of the All-Wheel Symmetrical Drive. The Impreza has more power, virtually the same gas mileage, larger cabin space, and an extra air bag. The Impreza also has the option of the hatchback. It's looking good for the Impreza, which is also coming out with many new upgrades for 2017.  Most important is that it is the first Subaru built on the new Global Platform chassis for even better handling and smoothness in the ride.

IMPREZA 2.0I PREMIUM VS NISSAN SENTRA  SL CVT

    • Big difference -  The Impreza is an all-wheel drive vehicle.  The Nissan Sentra  is a two wheel front wheel drive.  The Impreza a huge advantage in winter weather conditions, as well as overall feel and handling.

    • The Impreza is 1.5 inches shorter and a half inch narrower, and almost an inch shorter than the Sentra.
Yet the Impreza has more space in the passenger compartment.

    • The Impreza has 97 cubic feet interior space, compared to the Sentra's 96.

    • Impreza is better for taller drivers, with 43.5  inches front leg room.  Sentra provides 42.5".

    • The Sentra does have some more room in the trunk, with 15 cubic feet to Impreza's 12.

    • Talking safety - Both are IIHS Top Safety Picks Plus when equipped with collision mitigation systems. Both have 2 dash, 2 side curtain, and 2 front torso airbags, but the Impreza adds a driver knee airbag.

    • MPG is very similar, surprising since the Impreza operates an all-wheel drive system.    With continuously variable automatic transmission, Sentra is 29/38.   Impreza 28/37.

    • The Impreza automatic transmission is Lineartronic 6-Speed Continuously Variable Electronically Controlled Manually Interactive Automatic Transmission With Overdrive (Standard).  On the Sentra, Xtronic 2-Speed Continuously Variable Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission With Overdrive (Standard)

    • The Impreza has the 2.0 liter boxer engine 4 cylinder, 148hp.  Sentra 2.0 liter in-line 4 cylinder, 124 hp.

    • Base price, the Sentra is about $400 less.  However, the all-wheel drive is a big plus for the Impreza, a system that is usually only found on vehicles costing thousands more.

    • Impreza gives you a hatchback option, and the Sentra does not.  The Impreza gives you a lot more room -  which is why you wanted the hatchback  in the first place.

    • The Impreza WRX and WRX STi performance models fulfill different needs, but a great complement.  The Nissan Sentra does not have a performance model.

    •  Impreza uses  STARLINK® Cloud-based apps give drivers access to news, weather and more through a 6.2-inch touchscreen --  standard.  Sentra  drivers pay more for smartphone integration with an upgrade.
